Time is flying by!!!

Here is a picture of Banana Island in Luxor was incredible! We took a fulucca across the Nile and ate delicious fresh bananas! Oh and contrary to what Zein told us, there were no monkeys on Banana Island :(
Time is of the essence but this experience has been more than I could have imagined! So sad to leave!!!

Sunset on the Nile

I really like this photo because it shows the extreme contrast between the Nile and the desert! Egypt has lush green land but also the dry sandy desert!

They counted the number of women killed by the number of hands.

So, I had permission to upload this image from my Professor Zein he was saying something about censorship......anyways there was some battle and hundreds of thousands were slain and the Paraoh wanted to count how many men and how many women had been killed. Well, this is how they counted the number of men that had been killed. If you don't get it ask your fellow student or daughter that went to Egypt!

I believe that this WAS part of Ramses temple and "was completely destroyed." These were the famous words of our tour guide in Luxor! He must have said that everything "was completely destroyed, but restored!" This was one of the seven wonders of the world and I got to visit it!

This is the view of the sunrise from the top of mount sinai!! it was beautiful! I rode a camel up and some of the other girls hiked. I'm a bit sore, but it was definitely worth it. =] This is a moment none of us will ever forget.

This is a picture that I'm not very proud of even though I'm smiling! I was trailing behind the group taking pictures and I got "attacked" by these guys that want you to ride a camel and then pay them an unknown/undetermined amount of money. All of this information I did know before hand, but I got suckered in....very unfortunate! Anyways, when I saw (a different) camel it was shaved and had tattos on it, so the guy that was riding the camel saw his chance and I got that camel ride that has left a scar! I got suckered out of 100 Egyptian pounds.....you do the math!

Photo of the Year

I don't think he puckered up! I'm pretty sure this will be my favorite photo! Words can't describe this photo.....in a good way!

We met the author of "Woman at Point Zero" which was based on an amazing true story, amazing in the fact that this kind of stuff still goes on! Dr. El Saadawi is an amazing woman, I'm very glad that I got the chance to meet her!

Its somewhat amazing how polluted the air is! One morning I woke up and asked my roommate if it was really cloudy outside and if it was supposed to rain. Her reply....."No, that just smog!" I miss my clean air and smoke-free areas!

This is the Citadel located in Cario! I can't even believe that I took this picture! We visited the Citadel and several mosques today. We also went to my personal favorite....the Egyptian Museum! It has been really difficult to find time to post anything to the blog! We have been SO busy! Tomorrow we are going to see the pyramids and the sphinx which I really excited about! Its well past midnight in Cario and I need to get a few hours of sleep! I apologize for the lack of photos and posts! Hopefully, I will be able to post more!
